Report on meeting of Littlehampton Consistory on Thursday 21 January 2016

IMG-1

An excellent meeting. We meet at the O3 Club in Littlehampton which is under new management and is being refurbished the downstairs room we use has been given a coat of paint and looks much smarter. The meeting commenced at 6 pm and after opening we welcomed the Provincial Grand Summus Michael Conn, and the Assistant Provincial Grand Summus Ian Duncan in all there were over 22 companions present. The highlight of the evening was admitting two candidates to the First Grade Paul Brennan and Simon Piper. The ceremony went extremely well and the candidates were suitably impressed and received a warm welcome and from their comments at the festive board they enjoyed the evening. The Provincial Grand Summus then presented certificates to the Provincial Officers present who were appointed at the Provincial meeting.

As we dine in the same room we have to clear the consistory and set up the tables for dining, but everybody helps and it was soon accomplished so that we could adjourn to the bar for a drink before dinner. Dinner, a four course meal, was very acceptable and included cheese and biscuits and coffee all for £16.50. After the meal and Toasts we were all able to get away by 9 p.m. A thoroughly enjoyable evening - looking forward to the next one.

At our Meeting on Thursday 21 January 2016 we were honoured to receive R Dist Comp Michael Peter Conn Provincial Grand Summus together with Dist Comp Paul Hollebone Deputy Provincial Grand Summus and Dist Comp Ian Duncan Assistant Provincial Grand Summus. Although this was not an official Provincial meeting they were accompanied by a further eleven Provincial Grand Officers. In total there were some twenty four Companions at the Meeting to witness Bro Simon Piper and Bro Paul Brennan joining our Order. The Ceremony was conducted by Dist Comp Glyn Goddard assisted by Dist Comps Roy Lester and Gordon Leaman.

Dist Comp Trevor Lee our Director of Ceremonies made an excellent job in co-ordinating the whole of the Ceremony and the Lectures were delivered in a most sincere and memorable way.

The Provincial Grand Summus congratulated all of the Members that were in Office for the effort they had taken in learning their respective parts of the Ceremony.

The Provincial Grand Summus then continued to present Provincial Certificates to those Companions who were promoted to Provincial Rank at the December Annual General Meeting.

After the Meeting twenty Companions dined in perfect harmony.

We at Littlehampton have been very fortunate in the past nine months. We have attracted 3 new Joining Members Em Comp G R Goddard, Dist Comp A L Thompson and Comp A J Van der Burgh.

At our Meeting in September we saw Dist Comp Roy Lester installed as our President for the ensuing year.

At our Meeting on 15 January Comp Van der Burgh became a Joining Member. At the same Meeting we Obligated Invested and Entrusted four Companions as Fellows of Healers & Exorcists - Comps S Puttick, R Jupe, M Ganaway and P Swarbrick, followed by a new Candidate Bro Glen Coneley who was Obligated Entrusted and Invested as an Ostiarii.

At our next Meeting on 19 May we will be doing a Second Grade Ceremony followed by a First Grade Ceremony. We are very fortunate that we still have five brethren wishing to join us at Littlehampton and our Consistory is going from strength to strength.
